Aveling-Barford RD040
The White Horse Rampant and inscription 'Invicta' (Unconquered) were first used as a trade mark by Thomas Aveling as long ago as 1865 and officially registered in 1891. Subtly redesigned and reregistered by Aveling-Barford in 1940, a restyled version of the mark is still in use today. Picture shows an RD040 hauler. (S.E. Davis)
