1918 Dennis BF5597
Seen arriving at the finish of the 2011 London to Brighton Run. (Chris Stanley)br/br/Notes from the programme ... Entered by S. Gosling of Axminster, Devon. This vehicle's early history is not known. A number of these Dennis lorries were loaned to the US forces when they came into World War I in 1917 ahead of their own lorries arriving in the UK. A US Army tunic button was found wedged in the corner of the subframe, which could indicate that it was loaned in this way. It was purchased by the present owner in 2001 and has been rebuilt over a nine year period.
