Jonathan Pye writes ... This is DHX532, an AEC Mammoth Major Mk II, chassis no 0386080, which was new in 1936. Initially an AEC demonstrator, it passed to Wadsworth Transport of Cardiff after six months on trial. It later passed to BRS when road haulage was nationalised in 1948, before being bought by a showman who removed the second axle (which was put back on a week before the rally!) This lorry was at Bressingham Steam Museum in Norfolk until recently. (JP, 30/5/10)
