Thornycroft Nubian FJS622E
County Council of Ross and Cromarty Highways Dept SPV38, taken at Inverness in 1970. (Ken Reid)
John Harrington writes ... There were a lot of Nubian chassis unused by the RAF. Some of the chassis were pulled out of stock for the early crash tenders. More were built for the Army ca 1953 and there were a number built new for mostly overseas customers. Not a common plough chassis though. Macks in 1947 were followed by Matadors and later Militants. Moray bought a new Matador so the one shown might have been a precedence for buying new.
