Roadside refuelling

European Petroleum's idea was to take fuel to the motorists by eight-wheeler tankers, like this one, fitted with petrol pumps at the rear. The Gazette goes on... "Put into service as the spearhead of a pilot scheme, the volume of business attracted by the tanker at race meetings, roadside 'pull-ups', car parks and any other places where motorists gather will determine the future of the project".

The 4,000 gallon tank was by Darham Industries. Two petrol pumps mounted at the rear offered a choice of fuels.

Interesting concept, doomed evidently.
