1932 Leyland Llama WN5113
Seen at the Great Dorset Steam Fair, 30/8/12
Making its first outing since 1973 was this rare 1932 Leyland Llama van. It was new to Edward Studts, the showman from Swansea. The bodywork was built by Orton & Spooner, better known for building fairground rides. The original petrol engine had been replaced at some stage with a Leyland diesel by Studts. David Hoare rescued it from Bill Way's scrapyard in Cardiff in 1971, then rallied it for a couple of years before putting it into storage. Despite its long period parked up it was driven from Winkleigh to the rally site without any problems. (Dave Godley)
