Merfyn Jones writes ... John Garstang Ltd, a local firm that I worked for briefly in about 1968, had a large fleet of these Bedford TJs and previous A types. They continued buying them long after others so as to get a platform vehicle under 3 tons unladen. This was as the drivers were employed as salesmen/drivers and they would have been able to save on training them as HGV.
