1955 Maudslay/Merryweather NSF233
Edinburgh NSF233, 1955 Merryweather Marquis Mk I WrT, Maudslay Merlin Mk II chassis 50504. (Ken Reid)
Ken writes ... The chassis was a disaster being too light and underpowered, and expensive compared to the contemporary Bedfords bought in 1953/4/5/6. The Water Tender was originally stationed at Galashiels and must have struggled with the Border hills. Drivers at first did not like the diesel engine with its slow acceleration even when compared to the 6-cylinder petrol in the Bedford SLs.
